Born in Sheffield in 1939, Janet started work in the scientific Civil Service. After marrying Peter, they moved to Derby where she worked for Rolls Royce before joining the NHS and eventually becoming Financial Information Manager for SE Staffs Health Authority.
Deciding to retire, they moved to East Devon but after only a few months, Janet was invited to join a small software company near Exeter where she worked for several years. A final ‘retirement’ in 1996 brought them to a house near Holsworthy with a large garden where they might enjoy their love of dogs and gardening.
Janet was a well know competitor in dog agility shows around the country with her three dogs as well as being very involved with Holsworthy Museum as a volunteer. Janet’s organisational and IT skills brought both structure and the ‘computer age’ to the museum and her work behind the scenes was recognised by only a few.
Many knew of Janet’s welcoming manner, her ability to engage with everyone she met, and her unfailing drive and enthusiasm which was so infectious. Forever busy but always happy to make time for others, Janet was a true and loyal friend to so many.
Colleague, confidante and friend – loved by all, missed by so many…
